When trying to play in a one to one party, the second player can reach the game. It happens only while playing with me. It says thaht it wiats for the server. Ten it says that the deck is not disponible, and when I try to click on the "Play" button, it doesn't work. It happens again i we try again. I tried to switch from wifi to 4G, it doesn't work. I tried to cancel and installe the game again, it doesn't work. I cannot play with any local friend player. I join the pictures of messages received.

So looking at this thread which is opened since 2019 i have little hope that this will be fixed at all which is a game killer for me. Shame...

I have downloaded and learned Magic so that I could play Direct Challenges with my friend who lives on the other side of the world. The only thing is that the Direct Challenges don't work - every time the message appears: Waiting for Server. After 20 seconds the message appears: Network error - unable to submit deck. Try again later. Followed by "Connection lost".
It happens to only one person at a time and is completely arbitrary to who it happens. Logging in again or reinstalling MTG Arena made no difference.
Please fix this bug - it makes us super sad that we can't play this beautiful game together. -

This game is killing me, can't play a single match against my friend's list because it always says waiting for server and then disconnects me.

Been having issues playing ‘direct challenge’ games with my partner. It was fine before the recent updates, and its really frustrating that this issue continues to persist for about a week now. Please assist to rectify this soonest as it was MTG Arena that got us back to reigniting our interest in the game.

My friends and I are having a lot of problems issuing challenges to each other. The challenges don't get received, Messages don't seem to be sent. We still haven't narrowed it done, but most of the issues seem to be from a player on an Android phone.
This is really frustrating.

Still broken, direct challenges, friend list challenges, nothing works. MTG could be such a great game, but the client is by far the worst I have seen.

Tried initiating a challenge (various modes) through the friend list as well as through the direct challenge icon, typing in my friend's full username. We both tried challenging each other and awaiting a notification from the other person. We also tried each initiating a challenge simultaneously. None of it worked. And challenging each other at the same time would create a network error as described by others in the comments here - with the only fix being to close the game and restart. All done from Windows PCs, no phones or tablets.
This will be a three-year-old problem in just over two weeks. Wizards of the Coast made $1.3 billion in revenue in 2021. Their customer service's response to flagging the problem was to show me that it had already been flagged here.
Headline on feedback.wizards.com: "Found a bug? Let us know so we can fix it."

For two years, I have tried to Direct Challenge to play a casual format I love with people on discord. I have confirmed every time that I am inputting everything correctly. The screen goes to the avatar waiting for the other to connect, and it never connects. I can only connect using friend request. And since this casual community prefers Direct Challenge, I am not accepted without doubting my understanding of how DC works. Please Help!

I have the same issue, and when it does go through it will not allow me to select a deck. Sometimes it will say select deck or cancel challenge and neither works
-
KillBlade,MasterOfDeath#51359 commented
In my case, there would be an error message when I attempted to select a deck, and in some cases this led to the server not responding to the app indefinitely. This happened to me using a phone and a computer. I tried uninstalling the app on my phone and reinstalling and the same thing still happened. I would be very appreciative if you solved this issue.

Same as Sammy's comment: We both challenge each other and nothing happens!
Hope we can get an answer or the issue may be resolved soon!
Best,
Tim

I have the exact same problem. We used to be able to challenge (the bug happened once before then it worked again the day after) but now nothing happens when either of us direct challenge from the in-game friends list.
Have restarted pc, logged out and logged in to account.
