Historic Pauper!
An Open Letter to WOTC and the MTG Arena team
Hello!
I just wanted to write in on behalf of myself and the Historic Pauper community (I'm a moderator in a Historic Pauper Discord server and have been staff/the organizer for approximately half of the Historic Pauper events on MTG Melee) to say that we loved the FNM event. Many of us have played hundreds of games in official MTG Arena events while also playing hundreds (if not thousands) more in player run events or casual matches.
We are all looking forward to the next Historic Pauper event!
Cheers,
PlatypusJedi
P.S. I wanted to note that Ancestral Mask does reduce the number of viable decks in the format (this is magnified by it being Best of One as Hexproof creatures are even more difficult to deal with absent sideboards). I would recommend considering a ban in the official MTG Arena queues when they come around again. My server and other organizers have banned Ancestral Mask (in addition to your ban of Persistent Petitioners). This ban has led to a much more diverse metagame.

I actually REALLY love the power level of historic pauper. Its such a fun middle ground of accessable on the arena client without some of the big power level of paper pauper needing to deal with an entire historic of common. Additionally some of the alchemy based cards REALLY do add something to historic pauper. I can currently only find matches with either my friend, or third party like discord as a result of the skewed power level when in the play queue.
I would be absolutely overjoyed to one day see historic pauper as a main line play blade format.I like artisan - i really do. But the addition of the uncommons start to muddy the water and in some cases make the power level way too strong and actually LESS supportive of different decks and hurt deck building creativity, as a result of most decks being absurdly close to their historic normal counterparts such in the case of Izzet wizards.
But i would take either hoenstly. I really really enjoy the accessability and find its a great way to get people into the game to eventually want to try their same deck (pauper) as a main play blade deck. This was the case for my mono green deck at least. So i really dont think it hurts economy of rare and mythic rare purchases either. -

I'm willing to do whatever I can to help support Historic Pauper as an official permanent format on MTGA. It is by far my favorite format and I would spend more money on MTGA as a whole as a result of being able to play more Pauper

Pretty please? I just went 2-3 in the Pauper Decathlon... but it's the most fun I've had in a while playing Arena!

Everytime Historic Pauper is in the weekly queue, mine and everyone else here eyes light up. Recently I've noticed an uptick in frequency it shows up, please let his be a sign that it may be a permanant feature!!!

I love playing pauper simply because the game play is better than regular constructed games with rares imo. Every decision feels super important, like a great game of limited, but I get to use a bigger variety of cards and decks. I always look forward to the mid-week magic events with Pauper. This should be a permanent queue on Arena, I would play the heck out of it.

I agree. Please bring Pauper to Arena. Would like the idea mentioned below, with Pauper, Artisan and Singleton as rotating formats.

I had a ton of fun with the MWM event this week, I'd love an historic pauper queue. Maybe some kind of rotating event, switching between pauper, artisan and singleton? They are all very interesting formats.

i almost never brew due to wildcard scarcity, relying instead on fun decks i find online that have put up numbers. by allowing me to brew, historic pauper would let me engage with the game in a completely new way!

Hello, I would also be very happy to see a queue for Historic Pauper, possibly in Bo3.
At the moment this is almost the only format I play on Arena with friends. -

Would love to see this become an official format. Let us play with our cards.

When this format was up as FNM it was the first time in a long while that I played magic ALL DAY. I burned through all the quests, daily and weekly wheels but I just kept playing because the format was so fun and interesting. This would be incredible to have permanently.

Another RFE: Historic and Pauper are selectable deck types, but not traditional historic pauper.
Looking forward to future updates that might include any assistance for this very accessible and fun format!
