Your hand smoothing algorithm is probably one of the worst things to be done to MTG. As it is it from first hand experience it is hurting your business as I know many long time players that have walked away from MTG because of it. I do understand you put it in to draw in new players but when you have players that have spent hundreds of thousands f dollars over the years leaving because of it , it really isn't helping. As a suggestion don't force the veteran players to use it if it is supposed to be a buff then giving us the option to turn it off shouldn't be a problem and the coding to put in an option is extremely easy with the old shuffler algorithm you wouldn't even have to write any coding for it. I think this is probably the only compromise that will make hand smoothing actually function as it was intended to, to draw in new players without alienating the old ones and probably the best option for the health of your business.
Your shuffling algorithm is extremely inefficient and needs to be fixed. 9/10 you just get flooded or screwed in arena and when saving 5000 gold to play a draft deack and never seeing 2/3rds of it isnt any fun especially when your deck has draw mechanics and answers.
please fix the algorith. I've been mana screwed 8/9 games in a row. It's not fun. I'd like to have a chance to play. Whatever the last update did it messed with your algorithms. It's no longer random.

fix the shuffling and draw. make it REAL!!!!! you know what we are talking about!!! you not fixing it is just being **** lazy and saying yuou don't care about your customers. this game would be over the top if you would listen to us and fix THIS KNOWN ISSUE that everyone complains about, that people post videos about, over and over. FIX IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!
naked scorn to everyone who put money on this game. maybe the developers should try to play the game some time by themselves, just to catch a short impression OF HOW DISGUSTING and ANNOYING THIS IS! or is this made to make players as angry as possible?
I am tired of having to mulligan down to get a hand that does not contain 3 and 4 of the same card that I only run 4. I just drew 4 woodland cemeteries in a row. and the game before that had 3 twilight profits and another 2 of in my hand. If you cannot build a system that actually represents a shuffled deck then you are just giving the Mythic seats and the money that is won based on pure luck.
This is not coming from an angry magic player but somebody who would like to see a fair match up and a deck that didn't draw multiples back to back on a consistent basis for online play.
In closing I ask again that you truly research the # of possibilities your random shuffle provides and compare that to the actual # of possibilities. You will find your current seed to be entirely inadequate.
Got this as the first hand...isn't the shuffler supposed to give at least 2 lands in the first hand?
Btw, the shuffler is broken really...i'm able to have 1 fair match out of 10 cause of mana flood/screw, for me or my opponent
Your shuffler codeing is seriously trash.....theirs no possible way you will feed me mono colored mana in a duel deck that has mostly dual lands and not just 1 or 2 games but the majority of the games ive played ive land locked from either nothing but lands to all lands of diff color then needed …..ive switched decks to see if it would make diff...still no...a mono green deck you cause me to have no lands had to mulligan down to 3 just to see my first land in the hand....your coding for the shuffler is abismol please fix it...
Your game is all cheat !!!
every time it's the same thing
i win 6 to 10 games
then Loose 15 game in a row....
Because of not enough lands or contrematchup
Shame on this programation !!!
it's very far from the real game playing !!!
i hate this game now continue like this!!!
Just played a game where my opponent had multiple scry effects, which is fine except that they seemed to have endless mana. In one turn they played about 8 creatures which was way over their mana allowance WT.....
So new guild deck event played all morning. not a single win due to the fact my draws never consisted of the good cards in the deck or never gave me the right mana, were as the other player starts with the perfect hand every time. I have never seen such **** in my life in a game. I would think id get lucky one time, but it seems like I always get paired off with some1 who has the perfect hand. something is way broken here and needs to be fixed.
If you don't fix the issues by making a RANDOM SHUFFLER, instead of Stealing my money using this "loaded distribution" method, you're going to lose more than just a paying customer! Complete Random Shuffle is not that hard. Also I have noticed a few patterns that let me predict exactly what my draws will be. There is nothing random about it. Your "shuffler" is nothing more than a collection of cards in preset orders. Shame Shame Shame. Shame Shame Shame.
************* CONSTANTLY drowning in mana. In DRAFT I edit down to FIFTENN lands and I still have game after game like this - (image). CONSTANT mana clumps. I drew 7 lands IN A ROW in this game. SEVEN!!!! That is ******* BROKEN and it costs me MONEY because I PAY YOU to play your ******* draft then you ******* OVER with SEVEN lands in a ******* ROW to add to my pile. WHAT THE ****!!!! Sick off this ****.
I seriously want to know what Wizards is doing with our money. MTG:Arena doesn't have a working patcher, it just redownloads the whole game every time. Then there's the shuffler. The clumping is evident, EVERY game at least 2 or 3 cards will be within 7 cards of every other copy of that card, there's plenty of times all I'll draw is 4 plains in a deck with 5 plains out of 23 lands. Simulating a shuffle isn't even that hard, but you either cannot do it or are unwilling to do it. Form what I've gathered, besides the anti-land clumping "measure" you've implemented, it's completely random. First off, the clumping measure as you've described it is a half-assed solution. "Cannot draw more than 6 lands in a row" in a random distribution will give you plenty of 5 and 4 land clumps separated by a cantrip. Second, a perfectly random distribution is NOT how deck shuffling works. Make it completely random (in a completely random distribution you EXPECT plenty of clumping), THEN simulate a shuffle. Get some real programmers WotC, I'm going to say it flat out. You're cutting expenses with your programmers and it shows. Stop insulting your paying customers you money-crazed pieces of shit.
Just played another two games - 50% and 64% lands to cards ratio. INSANE. I'm out of here.
Playing a 22 land deck is obviously broken somehow. In one play session of 15 games (5xbo3 matches) I got land flooded in 6 of them. Each time seeing 12-15 lands in the first 20 cards of the deck. This is rather obvious because of the amount of scrying that the Feather deck uses. Also in 3 games I had to mulligan twice because the starting hand and the mulligan hand contained no lands at all. I appreciate random distribution, but this is not random.
When playing a Simic Nexus deck because using this deck you also get to see a lot of the cards straight from the library suffled by the initial shuffler. After playing a Nexus of Fate where the library is shuffled the mana problem is mitigated.
The main issue here is that of clumping of cards, they are not randomly distributed throughout the deck. If i haven't seen one of my 4 of in a deck cards in the first 15 seen cards they will be in a clump. This bias is quite obvious especially with land. I have 2 Blast Zones in the Nexus deck and usually I draw them within 5 cards of each other.
Please stop being cute with the shuffler algorithms and just give us a true random.
I've been doing some statistics recently on how many lands per play I receive.
It confirmed my assumptions - I played 38 games and lost 23 of them. 60% of lost games (14) was due to either lack of lands or too many lands. My deck has 61 cards and 23 lands (around 38%). Games I lost:
23% of lands, 60% of lands. I can't play that way. This is freaking riddiculous.
so true... feel ya man. but i guess we get that fixed after buying all the cosmetic stuff that appeared recently
I flood every Limited game. The game usually ends with 18-22 cards having been seen. Of those, 9-11 have been land. I used to run 17 lands, then I cut to 16, and now I run 15.
I still draw 50% land. I have been using tracking tools because I thought I was going crazy.
Am I just the guy who's three standard deviations up? There's millions of people, so there has to be one who gets flooded at an abnormally high rate, right?
Anyway that's me see you guys in the Arena. I'll be the dude with all the land.
Out of the last 20 games played:
1. I drew 7+ lands straight in 9 of the games
2. I was dealt 7 lands in open hand twice straight after a mulligan
3. My open hand had 3 of the only copies of X card twice straight even after mulligan in a 60 card deck.
4. I drew NO lands after 7 straight turns 3 times
5. I was able to play a normal randomized game of magic in the remaining 4 games!
In 20 years of playing magic I have only ONCE ever had an opening hand of 7 lands. In less than a year playing Arena I have done it a half dozen times.
Your randomized code is seriously flawed, or I should be buying lottery tickets because the chance of doing this in ONE game is astronomical in a 60 card deck with 1/3 land percentage, let alone in a 40 card deck with 17 lands!
You have wasted so much of my money and I am the biggest idiot to keep playing.
