Algorithm Improvement
I'm sure you're getting a lot of complaints about how one-sided your algorithm is not being impartial and often times screwing over players with land draws that should not be happening in a purely random sample - so my complaint can be added to that pile.
But, an idea for changing the algorithm to improve randomization would be having the program assign a number to each card remaining in a deck and pile shuffling the cards into X amount of piles (let's say 6). It can repeat this process Y amount of times then take the middle of the pile and put those cards on top. A better template would be from the card shuffler for poker sets from stores.

BROKEN/RIGGED GAME

So I asked about this in the Arena discord. And I kid you not, I literally had mods tell me that "there is nothing wrong with the shuffler" and that I should "take my conspiracy theories back to twitter" (I don't even have a twitter....). I even had someone aggressively DM me. IDK about yall, but that was so unwelcoming and rude. These are legitimate concerns and they are shared by THOUSANDS of people, evident by the hundreds of comments on this single post alone (https://feedback.wizards.com/forums/918667-mtg-arena-bugs-product-suggestions/suggestions/44184111-algorithm-improvement). So, I just left the discord. Amazing community building, Wizards, real cute. Additionally, I asked why the twitch stream today didn't respond to questions about the shuffler, and was told they DELIBERATLEY ignored these questions because apparently making your customers out to be crazy complainers is your business model????

I was playing Magic Arena and I realized how unfair the game is when you are playing against certain players. I was playing with a player whose library was sacral, well every time I play against this type of library, instant magic and/or spells don't come. Analyzing the game, investigating the algorithm, I realized that depending on the cards played on my side of the field, the opponent's library algorithm changes, it's as if the game was being manipulated. I have already reported several problems related to this and decided to analyze, if the game continues like this, it is not worth playing and it is also more advantageous to warn people since support is not ready to make the game fairer.

when are you going to fix the shuffler, or are you just going to remove the losses from players records where they lose to the shuffler. What I mean by that is games where it doesn't matter what my deck or my opponents is because of a 15 card land run or turn 8-9 sitting at only 3 land. You guys are demonstrating that you really have no clue what you are doing. First shuffler wasn't perfect but it was playable ( 3-4 out of 10 games would be bad draws ) then you decide to put in place hand smoothing untested, It made this much worse ( closer to 6-7 out of 10 is land runs of mana starve, and it can be one then the other) . Maybe you guys should get actual play testers and not just theory craft and stop trying to modify the draws and just push for actual random.

What is the point of playing ranked when I consistently go up against >200 card decks? Why isn't there a limit? This seems unrelated to this post, but I think lots of bad players (or may be good players also?) are doing this to get around the shuffler. And even if that isn't the only reason, clearly your game is currently broken. This is my last season playing (or at least purchasing anything, that's for dang sure) after over 10 years on arena.

I don't play drafts normally but decided to play one. Had a good roll as ended up winning some gems but there was a loss I think was planned. Out of 15 lands (7 blue, 8 white), within several turns, I managed to get all 7 islands and not a single plains. Now that does indicate an issue, doesn't it?
Also, what's been happening recently with shuffler and matchmaker? How come I'm now losing so many games with the deck that's always been an easy climb up the ladder (until at least platinum)? -

EDIT: hoping in a change with the new alchemy set I’ve reinstalled Arena. This situation persist. I feel like some players, less lucky than others, are non included in this game. So I think that Arena consciously exclude some player and it creates a completely unfair and non inclusive play-setting and experience, forcing player to leave for other games, more careful of player experience.
due to unfair matchmaking and shuffler, I had to uninstall the game.
Sometimes it is even impossible to play a game, due to continuous flood and manascrew, statistically impossible in real Magic.
Please fix it and maybe I will come back. -

Just had the opposite error. I just finished a premier draft 0-3 because the shuffler had me draw nothing but lands every draw for all 3 matches.

When are you going to actually try to fix the issue with your shuffler? When one game I get a 15 card land run and the next turn 9 and only 3 lands, next game 12 card land run, next one 2 lands in turn 8. This is why players are leaving the game, it has nothing to do with the opening hand . Any player can tell you that a good/bad opening hand can be changed with the next few draws , and your hand smoothing garbage only made the issue worse not better. Before it was 4 out of 10 games mana flood/starve would happen , now it's more like 7 out of 10. You want players to stay and pay then fix the issue, and get actual players to test your stuff before releasing it because it's painfully obvious you dont test or just get ppl who have no clue to test for you.

"Ultimately, if we take the hand smoothing algorithm as granted, it shows that Wizards is willing to manipulate randomness to give people the 'appearance' of more fairness or fun."
Also, no, this won't get me to the store to buy your pieces of cardboard. Get real.

"Ultimately, if we take the hand smoothing algorithm as granted, it shows that Wizards is willing to manipulate randomness to give people the "appearance" of more fairness or fun." I just got back into Arena and now I want to quit again :( I enjoy making powerful, but entirely thematic decks. I play ranked for fun, not really to rank up, I just want a good challenge. But wizards really takes the fun out of it by screwing up the algorithm to get more money out of bad players. Why spend all of this time crafting really cool decks, if at the end of the day, it kind of doesn't matter. Honestly, I think that's why Arena is so meta heavy, and for me personally, why it is so freaking boring at the end of every season. These types of practices kill creativity and instead reward people who probably don't even like building decks, but look up a meta and have fun winning while not understand what's going on and ruins it for the rest of us.

I have a balanced deck that was doing great. But now I'm either starved for mana (2 or 3 for over 6 turns) or flooded with only mana (had several games where 80% of what I got was land). I've been using the same percentages for years, there is no reason for the math to be this off.

Limited Draft, 2 losses in a row where I can't draw any lands. The capture log below is from 1 loss. Kept a risky 2 land hand, then proceeded to draw 7 non land cards and scrying 2 more non land cards to the bottom. 16 lands in a 40 card deck and only 2 lands show up in the first 16 cards of a match? That's magic baby!

Im so sick and tired of these stupid pieces of **** companies nowadays that ******* ruin the point of games and force you to lose over and over again making it at times unplayable, just take the ******* stupid system of forced losing out and maybe I'll spend more money, but guess what Wizards of the **** coast you won't get another ******* penny from me till you fix this **** cuz its pathetic, you just do this **** so that us good honest folk will see pros using all these expensive cards and go try to play with these decks knowing full well that these decks are mythic level and somehow i have lost every single game that would allow me to rank to just ******* plat 2 and then i lose and then win and then lose and then win and then lose and then lose 4 times and win 4 times just to be perpetually stuck in plat 3, like how ******* pointless does a game have to be for you to deem it a good game???

I think the issue of DICE to determine who plays first is already a real concern for Arena players.
We all know how decisive it is who starts the game in the most competitive formats like STD and recently many of us have noticed that some users are VERY below 50%.
I started keeping track of the percentage of starting dice gained a while ago. Of my last 50 games I ONLY STARTED IN 9. This is a bit absurd since I am currently having 18% of games where I start and in this way it is completely impossible for me to take this game seriously.
I hope that someone on the staff analyzes this data and gives us a different answer than the automatic one we are used to: "I assure you that our algorithms, including the matching, the shuffler, the coin flipper, and others, have been thoroughly tested and are working as they should be. All players are on the same playing field using exactly the same rules."
We need you to do something REAL about this. Otherwise the only thing you will get is that many people will turn to other TGC games :(.
