This also happens to me, sounds like it's an Epic Games issue as many things are but still worth mentioning that it happens to me as well in case someone reads this an fixes it for other players later on.

I stopped playing on PC over a year ago because this was so annoying. Switched to Mac and never had a problem. I just reinstalled on PC and this issue is still happening, what's the deal? 100% freeze every time I quit the game.

Same issue for me on PC, been going on at least a year with all PCs I have.
Windows 10 desktop, same when updated to Windows 11, i5-9600K, nVidia GTX 1080

Game completely crashes and locks up when exiting on PC (Windows, Epic Store). Have to end process from task manager to actually close the program. Will just remain frozen with error pop up otherwise. Happens every time I close the game from the exit option in the menu or closing the window. Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with the same issue

Almost a year later and this issue is still occurring. As others have mentioned, it seems to be caused by launching from the Epic Games program. I have attached a log file if that helps.

flakkyst#29240 is correct. It is launching the game through the Epic Games Launcher that causes the problem. Please fix that.

If you are using Epic Games launcher to start MTG Arena, it will crash on exit.

Start the game directly running MTGA.exe from C:\Program Files\Epic Games\MagicTheGathering and it won't crash later.

I have the same issue, I always have to forcefully close the program when I exit. I am sure it is tied to my account, since this happens on both my PC and Laptop.
I use the Epic Launcher.

I have the same issue. The Programm freezes without an error message, every time I quit the game. I have to close it via the Task Manager. Windows 10.

Same. Tried validating install, uninstalling and deleting all local files. Still crashes. Now I also get the FlushDNS bug so I think it may begin impacting gameplay beyond simply crashing on exit.

Same thing has been happening since the three patches. Thought it'd be fixed with yesterday's patch, but no.
