This problem happened to me again, and Fishlock#46545 suggestion resolved.
Although customer support was swift in responding and attempting to address my concerns, it is sad the we have to resort to suggestions provided by other players, instead of having the technical team personally address these issues.
Hopefully this bug wil be corrected soon, as this is clearly a critical and game-breaking bug that locks the players out of their accounts permanently! -

then find and delete /Local/Temp/Wizards Of The Coast/MTGa.
open magic, exit press esc and disconnect from your account and login using another device, if it works, close and enter your main device -

hey guys, I had the same issue I did the following and fixed it
Make sure MTG Arena is closed. If necessary on PC you can force close it by pressing Alt+F4
Open your Windows Explorer / file browser / My Computer so that you can look at the files on your computerCopy and paste or navigate to the following folder in the file browser:
C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Wizards Of The CoastDelete the folder you will find there titled “MTGA” (Don’t worry this will NOT delete the game.)
Note: If you can’t see the folder, you may need to enable “show hidden files and folders” in Windows settings:
In the search box on the Windows taskbar, type folder, click on the first result, then click the “view” tab”
then find the option for Hidden files and folders and select show hidden files and folders
This seems to only delete some temporary background files which may have been corrupted due to a crash or other error at an earlier date. Then when you launch MTG Arena again, the files are generated again from scratch and everything should be working correctly! This bug fix comes from the MTGA support website. -

Also started having this issue recently.
I can do the "logout back in" workaround on occasion. Sometimes pressing ESC does nothing and I have to force close.
Tried uninstalling, cleaning registry and reinstalling. Didn't do anything.
Also agree that Wizard's customer service is trash.

None of these suggestions helped. Ive done them all. And just like when i tried to get answers for why my other original account was deactivated w no effi g reason, all the money i dumped in to the game just gone.
Now this stupid issue with no answer. Wizards is major company with absolute garbage customer srrvice. Its extremely disappointing. -

wow im starting to get really ****** off. Im lucky i guess i dont have alot of money tied up in this game. Im reading these comments and hearing these people say how they arent getting any help from support. That really is a big middle finger to us , the consumer and thats not what i expect from wizards. Very tackey and cheap.And we the ones that make your company all this money and sucess and this is how ur going to treat us. Bad move wizards bad move!!!!!~!

Well im glad at least to know it's not just me, sorry guys.I am having the same issue in Limbo with this looking for active matches ********.Iv never seen this message before that i remember .So iv tried deleting the whole game and then redownloading it like too many times now .Im stuck and unless reaching out like this can provide some informatiion about what to do or how to fix it. I guess i wont be playing until that happens. ill have to keep researching the problem until i can find a solution. Oh joy wont that be fun

I have tried deleting temp files also uninstalling and reinstalling. I still get stuck loading the game on "checking for active matches." I'm not sure what to do or if the problem is even on my end at this point. Wizards, please help. Thank you.

The only thing that worked for me: Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller, and use it to ensure that all traces of files from previous installations are fully removed before attempting to install the game again.

I cannot get past "checking for active matches". I have tried everything. I've reinstalled, deleted files, everything that has been recommended by other players. Nothing works. Am I just screwed? Because if the money and endless hours I put into this game culminated in this result, I am personally going to destroy capitalism like I'm Vladimir Lenin after 8 vodkas. I'll do it, don't test me.

Hello Everyone,
I have also encountered the same issue around 4 days ago. I have deleted the WOTC/MTGA folder in C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Wizards Of The Coast, but it still searches for matches infinitely. I have also tried reinstalling but to no success.
