same error of infinite "Loading card database".... I'm with a M1 Macbook pro with MacOs Ventura, tried to uninstall/reinstall from the Epic Launcher, but nothing works, tried some ideas (delete some files, reinstall, etc...) found here, but still the same issue at the end... Please help !!

whats the point of these tickets if no wizard support ever answers? I have this issue for over a month now and the suggestiosn here dont work for me, cant even reinstall the game it always gets stuck

Tech support gave me this solution, and it ended up working (October 2022):
-Uninstall Magic Arena (use a third party uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller to make sure all files associated with Arena are removed from your system)
-Download the latest .msi file by following this link:
https://mtgarena.downloads.wizards.com/Live/Windows64/versions/4277.956000/MTGAInstaller_0.1.4277.956000.msi
-Either double click this file or execute the following from the command prompt: MTGAInstaller_0.1.4277.956000.msi
-Follow the Setup Wizard prompts.After this point, I had to run the latest MTGA Installer that you find here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/mtgarena. After installing this time, the issue was (finally) resolved for me. Hope it works for some of you!

The Game is stuck at "LOADING CARD DATABASE" for hours. Here is the log file (text pasted below). After launching the game, it downloads a 2.9 GB file, then proceeds to a screen that says, "Loading card database..." and sticks there for hours.

as of today the 24 September I was able to fix this issue on my Mac, may help you.
1. go to Epic and Uninstall the application
2 close out of Epic
3. open finder and go to /users/*your username*/library and send the folder com.wizards.mtga to the trash
4. go to the folder /users/shared/Epic Games/ and send the folder MagicTheGathering to the trash
5. restart is probably safe, I didn't do this as well as emptying the trash
6. launch Epic go to library and reinstall
7. Launch MtG:A it should start to download the 6+ gb database again.From what I can tell from looking at the logs is that somewhere along the lines the db size does not match what has been programed and because of this corruption it hangs on loading the database.
WotC said that it was an Epic issue and Epic couldn't give me the information that I needed either.

Go to - Appdata/Local/Temp/Wizards Of the Coast -- Delete that folder.
Relaunch game again. Enjoy.

I FOUND WHAT COULD SEEM A FIX for when stuck on the " Loading Card Database "
Although after i got IN the game, the game still experienced certain " FONT Bugs "
To pass this screen, Try deleting the file located in ~ C/Program Files/Wizards of the Coast/MTGA/MTGA_Data/Downloads/Raw/Raw_CardDatabase_03f5d65420eeb21eb1b88ccd09880222.mtga
Then launch the game.
After i deleted this file " Raw_CardDatabase_03f5d65420eeb21eb1b88ccd09880222 " - i managed to get into the game. The game Re-downloads the file and allows you go inside the Home menu,
BUT, IT MAY GIVE YOU FONT BUGS or CRASHES . Later on To fix these font bugs or CRASHES,
I DID THE FOLLOWNG:||***Fix Display Issues, Font Issues, and Crashes***||
1) LOG OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT FIRST (IF YOU CAN).
2) Backup your MTGA install folder located in c/Program Files/Wizards Of The Coast -- Backup this folder ( You will have to basically BACKUP The whole GAME -- > your " Wizards of The Coast " Folder with all of those GB's downloaded if you dont want to loose them, this is to stay safe).
3) MOVE THAT BACKED UP FOLDER TO SOMEWHERE SAFE.(Make it safe)
4) AFTERWARDS - UNINSTALL THE GAME AND REINSTALL IT -
(Optionally - Locate the folder called Wizards of the Coast/MTGA/MTGA_DATA/Downloads/AssetBundle AND DELETE IT) (There is no risk because you just made a backup before, remember?)5) NOW Launch your Reinstalled Copy of MTGA or
IF YOU DELETED THE AssetBundle Folder- Just launch your Installation with the Deleted "AssetBundle" Folder -THE GAME WILL basically Re-download WHAT IS NEEDED, ALLOW IT TO UPDATE, make sure your bandwidth is ultra fast and stable.
Allow it to reach the LOGIN SCREEN.6) IMPORTANT PART HERE. NOW MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT, YES !
MAKE A NEW ONE ! thats right! , new EMAIL, NEW EVERYTHING. (I know , annoying, confirm it , everything etc etc.)7) NOW LOGIN WITH YOUR NEW ACCOUNT (Forget about the old one for now)
8) Let it update until it reaches the tutorial, Your new account will UPDATE ALL OF THE MAIN ASSETS AND FILES THAT ARE NEEDED TO WORK - TO RUN THE GAME IN A PERFECT STATE -
9) Now complete some parts of the tutorial if you want, if possible complete it all, until you reach HOME MENU AGAIN , VERIFY THAT EVERYTHING IS WORKING WELL THERE, Card Collection, Editing Decks, Shop, Color Challenges, Fonts, Display. Quit the game now.
10) Now GO INSIDE THE Backed up AssetBundle Folder - COPY PASTE EVERYTHING FROM THE Backed up AssetBundle Folder TO THE WORKING COPY OF MTGA you were handling. (Don't just select the folder, GO IN and SELECT ALL THE CONTENTS INSIDE OF The Backed up AssetBundle Folder with Ctrl+A)
IMPORTANT AGAIN -- When you're pasting " IT WILL ASK YOU TO OVERWRITE , SAY NO !!!, SAY SKIP !! "(Because Now you are Adding the files from the Backed up Installation , these assets, in other words all of the cards you needed to redownload --- by doing this you skip re-downloading them again --- AND IF YOU SAY NO ! AT THE SAME TIME YOU KEEP --- " THE WORKING FILES !!! THE FILES THAT ARE WORKING WELL !!! " --> THESE ONES ARE GUARANTEEING YOU THAT EVERYTHING WILL WORK.)
11) Final Step -- Log out of the alternate account , AND LOG INTO YOUR MAIN ACCOUNT12) Enjoy ... You now have a working MTGA Installation.
13) IF THIS DOESNT FIX IT? , NO PANIC, WELL YOU KNOW YOU CAN COPY PASTE AGAIN THE FILES From the backed up AssetBundle Folder INTO THE WORKING FOLDER -- Wait for it to complete and now that you have all the files selected just Shift-Delete and Delete them ALL ! , and work your way again by slowly reupdating the game... Sigh....
This worked for me. IT SHOULD 100% work for EVERYONE.

But if you check on C//Program Files/Wizards of the Coast/MTGA/MTGA_Data/Logs/
You will find several LOG FILES, OPEN THEM WITH NOTEPAD .

I have no idea what that means, but IT CRASHED RIGHT THERE, thats the last message.
Im thinking " something must be corrupted inside " -- So there you have it, after many hours of playing Neverwinter Nights OC , and talking to Aribeth, i managed to fiddle with the folders of MTGA and to repair it myself, Without having to redownload it . -

It's happening for me, as well. When trying to install the game it gets about ~100MB into the initial download and then gets stuck on the "Loading card database" message. I left it running for over an hour and it never progressed.

I am having this same issue, I can tell that the application is communicating with the network cause if I try to boot it from my phone it is disconnecting from the server on the MacBook.

Patching has always been bad but this time its not working at all.
When i try to download the patch on my pc im getting stuck on "loading card database" endlessly. I tried reinstalling but the same thing happens, so the game and patch arent installed now. Deleting the mtg folder in appdata didnt help either.Theres no bug category for some reason so i took any..
