Improper combat interactions
It has become a fairly common problem with arena where double strike and first strike interactions don't function properly. First if a creature has both First strike and double strike it will have a fairly high likelihood to hit three times or have its damage get through to the player even though it doesn't have trample. The next problem is that unfortunately it's becoming more common to be abused by some players. The next problem is that perpetual abilities are getting more broken especially if they deal with combat abilities. If a creature that already has a combat ability is given an additional instance of the combat ability it will act extremely strangely. The best examples I have are dealing with trample and double strike and first strike. If a creature will double strike or first strike is given an additional instance of either one they will get an additional damage step for each instance of the combat ability. In other words if you have a creature with first strike that is then given first strike with perpetual abilities it will hit an additional time as if it had double strike but both hits will happen in the first strike sub section of damage calculation. If the creature in question has first strike and is given double strike with perpetual abilities it will hit twice in the first strike step then once in the next. Then if a creature has double strike and the it gets double strike with a perpetual ability it will hit twice in both steps. If the the creature in question is given both first strike and double strike with perpetual abilities and it already has either it will almost always create a situation where the game just decides to give the creature close to six or eight instances of each that each trigger separately. The next part is that sometimes creatures with double strike but without trample will hit creatures with the first strike but still hit the player afterwards. The problem is especially bad when dealing with perpetual abilities. This next problem is dealing with trample and how it interacts blocking if a creature is giving multiple instances of trample with perpetual abilities it will almost always cause a significant damage increase to the defending player. I have seen many situations where I have blocked with far greater toughness than required to block all incoming damage and not only did 100% of the damage get through but it was significantly greater damage than the creature and board states allowed for. I'm describing a situation where a 5/5 creature with three instances of trample from perpetual abilities getting blocked by 15 toughness worth of creatures spread across five creatures. The attacking creature didn't have deathtouch and it didn't have double strike though it did have first strike and the board state allowed me to prevent one damage to all of my creatures in addition to the opponent not having any means of increasing damage. I was at 30 life without any poison counters and the opponent didn't have any means to place them or bypass the blocking creatures with abilities such as questing beast's ability to make it act as if it wasn't blocked and the damage was not only still done but multiplied by the number of instances of trample so the end result was that the only creature my opponent attacked with hits for 40 damage or more. This is because perpetual mechanics are broken and have been getting more broken over time and this is unacceptable for the game to be a viable option for players in the future.
