Archfiend of the Dross - Automatically resolved stack check without the possibility of instant speed response.
Had 3 Archfiend of the Dross out, one with 1 oil counter left, one with 2 oil counters left, one with 3 oil counters left, before start of turn and an instant speed spell in hand, with valid targets on the battlefield (in this example, Go for the Throat, and a Venerated Rotpriest). Then start turn, triggering the ability to remove an oil counter. Venerated Rotpriest's controller has 3 life left.
PC, non-Steam
The turn starts, Untap -> Upkeep: the Archfiend's triggered ability is put on the stack, then immediately resolves. It completely ignored the presence of an instant speed spell in hand with valid targets available.
As the 3 instances of the First triggered ability of Archfiend of the Dross is put onto the stack, players should be given the option to respond to the ability before it resolves using normal priority rules. In response to the Archfiend of the Dross triggered ability, active player should be allowed to cast Go For the Throat targeting Venerated Rotpriest -> Venerated Rotpriest's triggered ability goes on the stack, and then the non-active player is allowed to respond. -> On resolution of Go for the Throat, Venerated Rot is killed and put into the graveyard -> Archfiend of the Dross's second triggered ability triggers 3 times, causing the Venerated Rotpriests controller to lose 2x3 life, causing a game loss state before the Archfiend of the Dross's First triggered ability is allowed to resolve.
Unavailable.
No work around was found, but full control mode may be useful here. It's difficult for me to 100% reproduce.
