Invasion of Alara and Bramble Familiar
Casting Invasion of Alara into a <5 cmc adventure card should not let you play the >4 cmc adventure portion of the spell. I thought this was already determined with Cascade rules. On Arena, people are using Invasion of Alara to hit Bramble Familiar, but instead of playing the creature, they play the 7 cost adventure attached.

Thank you for posting this. I'm playing in mythic right now against this deck, and just spent all of my time extensions trying to figure out what just happened

Invasion of Alara only cares about the mana value of the cards when exiling, so that its exiling may stop. It does not impose any restriction on the mana value of the spell that gets cast for free. This interaction is well within the rules framework, and not a bug.

Invasion of Alara - This card is bugged and regularly being abused in standard play on Magic Arena.
The card specifically says it's only supposed to be able to cast spells with 4 mana or less for no mana cost. That is how the card stays balanced.
Instead the game is making the mistake of letting them cast the Bramble Familiar adventure side of the card for free, since the regular side is only 2 mana. However, the adventure side is 7 mana and DOES NOT get the free cast because it's cost is over 4 mana.
We need this fixed ASAP. Everyone is abusing this right now in arena, it's ridiculous BS.

I agree this needs to be fixed. It has made an already great deck even absurdly better, and will cause this deck to take over standard. Wait and see but I'm willing to put money on it. The next few standard events will be over run with this deck.

Sparks is right. That's why I love the card. And it's not unfair. One mana of each color and the card itself does nothing. You also have to build your deck around it.

This is basically the same issue as when cascading into an oversized split card was legal. I won’t be playing on any ranked ladders until it’s fixed. 👎👎👎👎👎

So what I'm hearing is that we need either an immediate rules patch or banning of Invasion of Alara. Because there is no way that this is intended.

Yeah, it doesn't seems fair. I get the logic behind how it can happen, as explained by Sparks, but getting out several large bodies for 1 card seems a bit... unfair.

While Invasion of Alara does a similar thing to Cascade, it is not actually Cascade, which has rules specific to the mana value of the card you cast with it. Invasion does not, so once you find a card that meets the condition of costing 4 or less, you can cast any part of it without paying its mana cost.
