Block list for players
As a means of compromise between different kinds of players, who want different kinds of games, I am suggesting the implementation of a feature which would allow players to "Block" one another.
What would this accomplish? Timing abuse is both hard to pinpoint and difficult to define, so don't bother. Let players decide when someone is overstepping they're boundaries. Bans can cause more problems than they solve. So don't ban cards. Let players decide what kinds of games they want to play against, and who. The best part? Implementing this feature would require NO oversight or involvement of employees.
Let me repeat that. The amount of time and money spent to moderate player behavior with this system immediately drops to ZERO.
What the heck, make a Dual function out of it. Did you really enjoy the way you're opponent played? Add them to the white list. You'll get matched with them more often! Did your last opponent spam emotes and burn down the timer in between...Every. Single. Spell? Just block list that player, you won't get matched up with them again! PROBLEM SOLVED.
Allow us, the players, to set healthy and reasonable boundaries for ourselves when interacting with other players. Not everyone always gets along, and that's okay. Don't just take my word for it either, ask around. Put up a poll. People don't like feeling like their time is wasted. Do you, the person reading this right now enjoy it? Of course you don't.
Heres another upside to this feature guys. We wouldn't have to ban players from the game. Just because I don't enjoy a particular play style, or pace, doesn't mean someone else deserves to never be allowed to play again. They're not evil people who must be punished. They just want to play a different kind of game than I do. And that's okay. Lets enable each other to respect one another's time, fot players, and the employees who work on the game.
WOTC employees? Wouldn't it be nice to not have to read through all the reports players send in everyday? You want players to report bugs, not each other. But they report on player misconduct because they feel powerless. Lile they have no recourse or action but to concede the game, and look for another match. And while that is a solution, it does not solve the issue at the heart of the matter. And if not playing the game is how you want us behave, this feature would literally expedite that process!
Consider also the relief on server strain and bandwidth, not having to constantly connect and disconnect people who do not want to play with each other. A block list will solve a multitude of issues, including those which we did not have time to discuss here. Engagement will go up, reporting will go down, and players moderating themselves costs you nothing. A simple click, and we're done. I promise you this feature will be regarded with near universal praise, and be received as an overwhelmingly positive addition to gameplay, matchmaking, and player choice.
Please, if you are a player or employee, leave a comment below sharing your thoughts, feelings and opinions on this issue. We all deserve a chance to have our voices heard. Sincerely —J.B.

Many excellent points made in this post and, so far, no feedback from WoTC on this extremely highly requested feature for years.
It's gotten so bad (from a handful of unsportsmanlike players to more than (*checks list* 44) that I'm now auto-conceding ~1/3 of my matches.
Honestly, if no block/ban list is implemented (we already have a Friends list so this is NOT a difficult feature to add) in Match-Making by the end of Q1 2024, I'm quitting Arena.

They won't if they never see it. Please pass the link to this page along to anyone you know who plays arena, and has become frustrated with timers and roping. I really think this is a long term viable solution to a host if issues. Thanks.
