Cannot battle friends

When trying to have a battle with a friend the system gives several different types of errors depending on if I sent the invite, or if they do. Either way it seems to crash, and then won't work. Only events, and standard play types with unknown users will work.

I am having the same issue. For over a week now. Can someone please let us know if there is a fix?? very annoying!
