***** Against Humanity and Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds. Duplicating the ***** token does not work. When I tap a creature to duplicate the token, the duplicate dies immediately. Easily repeatable, happens every time I do it.

That's because the tokens are base 0/0s. SAH is the thing that adds counters after the token has entered the battlefield. Copying a base 0/0, that has counters on it, will only net you the base 0/0 for the copy, counters aren't copied.
