Triggered [[fireglass mentor]]. one of the options was [[Consumed by greed]]. Was properly given the option to cast it with gifting a card (which would have allowed me to retrieve a creature from my graveyard), but it wouldn't put the spell on the stack. This certainly caused me to lose the game I was playing as I would have been able to retrieve my lifegain.
