Disguise is not an activated ability but Myrel blocks it.
My opponent controls Myrel, shield of Argive.
I control a disguised Unlielding Gatekeeper. During my opponent's turn, when I try to turn my Gatekeeper face up in order to exile a creature, the game does not allow me and does not even give me priority. It seems to treat Disguise as an activated ability, even though according to the rules it should be a special action.

Are you sure it is Mytel that is stopping you? While a longshot guess on my part, Karlov Watchdog specifically stops turning face down creatures face up during its controller's turn.
