More issues with double strike.
Double strike vs deathtouch in a fight results in a creature with double strike always dying even if it kills it with first strike damage.

Yes this happened to me too. 5/5 double strike (Old Growth Troll equipped with Leyline Axe) fought a 1/1 deathouch (Baleful Strix) using Bushwhack. Troll died on first touch.

Fights are creatures dealing noncombat damage to each other. Double strike is irrelevant in these, it only affects which combat damage steps the creature deals damage in.
