With standard best of 1 being garbage right now it seems the matchmaker only places 60 card decks against 100+ card decks
Completely unacceptable, just had over 10 games in a row in unranked where i get placed against decks that have 100-250 cards and curve out perfectly every time, this is pathetic.

That would be true if there was not an algorithm that regularly gives bigger decks better draws, in paper magic what you said is exactly true, on arena this is completely false, the hand smoothing algorithm gives bigger decks a higher chance of drawing their cards that will help them win while gimping the 60 card decks.

60-card decks are better, because they get to draw their most powerful cards more frequently and/or in multiples, and get to bank on the synergy between them. But big decks are more consistently drawing their average, due to how probability works. Extremes are simply less likely for big decks, so extemely good or extremely bad draws happen way less freqently. The downside of big decks is, that they have to complement their best cards with copies of less good cards, so their average is usually lower in power than a 60-card deck average. They are curving out well, yes, but not with the best cards possible. If you can't handle a big deck's average, your deck and/or play skill needs improvement.

such a garbage showing when everyone seems to think that these decks should be bad and yet they have a better chance of curving out than basic 60 card decks? WTF is wrong with this game?
