Cards not dealt
No cards were presented for mulligan. The cards were finally dealt after the first timer expired. Then I am not sure what happened because my opponent timed out and lost.

I have no clue why it does it sometimes, but as near as I can tell it's waiting for your opponent to make their mulligan choice before showing you your cards. In this case, your opponent wasn't there.
