Fury's Trigger Counts as 3 Crimes
Platform: PC.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Play Marchesa, Dealer of Death. (Or Intimidation Campaign, or any other card that triggers "whenever you commit a crime".)
2) Evoke Fury.
3) Select only one creature controlled by an opponent as the only target for Fury's triggered ability (meaning you must choose to deal 4 damage.)
Relevant Comprehensive Rule:
700.13. Some cards refer to committing a crime. A player commits a crime as that player casts a spell, activates an ability, or puts a triggered ability on the stack and that spell or ability targets at least one opponent; at least one permanent, spell, or ability an opponent controls; and/or at least one card in an opponent’s graveyard.
The phrase "at least one permanent" means that Marchesa should trigger once, regardless of the number of targets.
Expected result:
Marchesa triggers 1 time, regardless of the number of targets.
Observed result:
Marchesa triggers 3 times with only 1 target.
