Incorrect rules interactions
During an OTJ quick draft game... i stole their creature and i did not experience any of the benefits or the attached equipment to the creature . this was very likely to change the game towards my advantage but instead gave my opponent the extra card.

The equipment was still controlled by your opponent. You only got control of the creature. And depending on how the equipment is worded, it can still trigger for your opponent, even if it is now your creature attacking and dealing damage to him.
