Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share that I’ve finally reached the lowest 5% in the Mythic Historic rank on MTG Arena! My account is Mythic#48200, and I’m honestly thrilled about this milestone. Now, I’ve got a plan: I want to tank my MMR by intentionally losing games so that climbing in the next season will be way easier. My goal is to make my future matches a breeze, and I’m hoping the community can help me figure this out.

Does anyone know how many games I should lose right away to drop my MMR enough that I can win almost all my games easily in the new season? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tried this strategy before. Also, I’m really curious if there are any mathematical proofs or strategies out there that can calculate the optimal number of losses or explain how MMR works in this context. Any tips, experiences, or ideas you’ve got would be awesome. Thanks so much for your help – can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

The mistake is the 5% limit and that the MMR degradation is not mentioned in the rules of the game, as MTGA itself does by manipulating the odds to get to around 50%. This needs to be changed, after all we are playing MTG's game and following their work. Change it to make it easier for us.
