Fresh Start not acting at instant speed
My opponent pumped their 5/3 creature with a +3/+0 instant that would have given them lethal and I was unable to respond with Fresh Start (-5/-0 Aura with Flash), losing me the game.

Did they have Voicve of Victory on the field? If so, that is the reason.
