A number of cards do not function as stated. In particular, "The Wanderer," a Legendary Planeswalker failed to do what the card describes. Its passive effect states: "Prevent all noncombat damage that would be dealt to you and other permanents you control." I understand that some cards' effects can be difficult to discern and even open to interpretation. But this is very clear. Yet, whenever I have this Planeswalker on the field, untapped, unbothered in any way, I still receive noncombat damage. Be it from Instants, Sorceries, passive effects from Creatures (such as Sheoldred, The Apocalypse), I still receive damage. Just today, I had "The One Ring" in play, with 4 counters on it, and I put a fifth counter on it, despite having only 1 life point left. "The Wanderer" was on my field, and I should not have taken damage from the effect of "The One Ring." But I did, and at the beginning of my Main Phase, "The One Ring" dealt me 5 damage, my little Planeswalker-face at the bottom of the screen exploded, and I was shown the "Defeat" screen. Please ensure that the cards do what they say they do.

Life loss and damage are two different things. Damage to a player can, and usually does, CAUSE life loss. But life loss itself is not damage. The Wanderer cannot prevent life loss. Neither can any other prevention effects.
