Allow Viewing Flavor Text on the Back Face of Double-Faced Cards
Currently in MTG Arena, when viewing double-faced cards (like werewolves or MDFCs), only the front face’s flavor text is visible in the Collection, Hand, and Preview views. The back face’s flavor text is hidden unless the card has already transformed during gameplay.
This is a missed opportunity to deliver the full narrative and thematic flavor that double-faced cards are known for. The back faces often contain unique lore that helps build immersion, especially in sets like Innistrad or March of the Machine where transformation is part of the story.
Feature request:
Please add a way to view the flavor text on the back face of double-faced cards—perhaps by:
• Showing it in the Collection view when flipping the card,
• Adding a toggle or hover feature in deck-building or hand view,
• Or displaying both faces’ flavor texts side by side when inspecting a card.
Why this matters:
• Flavor text is a core part of MTG’s storytelling.
• Double-faced cards are often among the most flavorful in design.
• Improving accessibility to this text enhances the player experience, especially for Vorthos players.
This small UI improvement would bring a lot of value to players who care about the game’s lore and presentation.
Thank you!
