latest Standard Bans
My faith has been (somewhat) restored wrt the recent slate of bans in Standard.
Again from prior writing on this topic, a few of these cards should've never been printed in the first place--especially Cori-Steel Cutter. Whomever proposed that card should not be allowed to continue serving on the design committee and it was gross incompetence for it to be accepted.
I actually don't feel Monstrous Rage needs a ban, but it is OP in the current aggro-heavy meta. If they're going to ban Monstrous Rage, they should also ban Slickshot Show-Off.
Abuelo's Awakening also makes sense given its dominance in the recent Pro Tour with the Omniscience deck and having White have strictly better reanimation than Black made no sense.
I'm surprised about Up the Beanstalk, but I suppose WotC wanted to limit draw on Green given so many self-flicker effects and its cheap casting cost.
I'm really surprised Vivi Ornitier wasn't banned, but I have little doubt it will be banned in the next round. It's just too much cheap mana too quickly.

I'd forgotten that Up The Beanstalk triggered purely on mana value and not casting cost so, yeah, this definitely deserved a ban given the low gating for so many cards having casting-cost discounts.
One more reason to further restrict, but not eliminate, resolution mana cost differences from casting-cost.
Most recently, the Overlords and Rooms from Duskmourn like https://scryfall.com/card/dsk/68/overlord-of-the-floodpits and https://scryfall.com/card/dsk/43/bottomless-pool-locker-room .
