no chance to respond to removal
I had untapped lands and a snakeskin veil in hand but when my opponent targeted my Sazh's Chocobo with Get Lost it just killed my creature without giving me a chance to respond.

They probably had Voice of Victory on the field. Or Myrel. Or Grand Abolisher. Or Kutzil.
In the current Standard, you are not guaranteed to be able to act on your opponent's turn, even if you have mana and spells that would normally allow you to.
