Opponent somehow sacrificed a creature and killed me
Today I had a game against Tomgeo64 and he somehow sacrificed his Marauding Mako while Voldaren Thrillseeker wasn't exiled by Agatha's Soul Cauldron. Voldaren Thrillseeker was on board and this card says it can sacrifice only itself. So what did happen? How did he sacrifice Marauding Mako?

Voldaren Thrillseeker has backup 2, and it entered this turn. Your opponent obviously did not target the Thrillseeker with the backup trigger, so it stands to reason, that they targeted the Marauding Mako with it, granting it the Thrillseeker's sacrifice ability for the turn, as per the backup ability. Which they used to win the game.
