Just happened to me as well. Seems to be a unrelated to what OS it's running on since I've had it happen on Linux in addition to others reporting Mac, Android, and Windows issues.

so still no fix for this ? i felt i have been redownloading for so so many times... i now compelled to just uninstall it altogether

Same issue, in epic games. Switch wifi with arena on. It forces the 11 Gb download. Must have been a dozen downloads.

This needs fixing 2 weeks to download everyday 11gb is not fun and made me not play for most of the time

I play arena and downloaded arena on Steam. I've gotten this bug a few times now, I'm just going to stop trying to play on my computer at this point.
I've seen a few people say it may have something to do with wifi disconnecting or maybe a bad connection and I think there may be something to that. My internet disconnects fairly frequently and I've had this some problem. When I play on my phone using my mobile data I don't seem to have the same problem because it never disconnects. That's my best guess.

I have to download the full 11Gb each time my connection times out due to wifi issues. And the download of the 11 Gb is really slow too. It takes me like an hour! I think I've downloaded the full 11 Gb about 20 times in the last 3 weeks, 2 times just today!

Same here on android. If I disconnect a couple of times I have to download the full 3.5GB game..

Got the same issue on mobile and need to download 3gb multiple times a day.... Very annoying.

From my experience,If you lose the connection while opening MTG Arena, then when the connection is back, you're forced to download this massive update.
This is unacceptable, FIX IT

oh man, it's almost a month now since the EOE/Renewal/Rotation update and today just finished my 7th download of the 11.09 gb update. And guess what? After I restarted my PC, it started to download again the freakin' 11.09 gb update!!????? CAN SOMEONE FROM WOTC DEVELOPMENT TEAM DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ALREADY!!!??????????

It seems like the client keeps on forgetting that I already have the update downloaded. Does my internet connection have something to do with this?

Currently having this issue. I noticed it started occurring after I was disconnected due to a brief internet outage. I attempted to reconnect once my internet was back, maybe 30 seconds or so, and was forced to close the game due to it not responding. Upon opening the game, I am now staring down the barrel of an 11.15 gb update. I ran a 3gb update already to open the game and I see there are no scheduled updates at this time. Please fix. I have fast internet, but I don't want to wait 15-20 minutes to restart the game everytime theres a minor connection issue.

I tried to solve the issue by deleting all hidden folders of mtga and epic games, reinstalling. It worked for a while but the issue persisted...

Had a similar problem. My router went out for a second, my game lost connection, and the game prompted me to exit. I exited, but when I started the game back up, bam, 11.9 GB update.
Like, I can't play the game now, and it sounds like going through with the update doesn't work. Even if I tried to download the update, it'd take all day, if not multiple days on my internet.
