Explosive getaway doesn’t inflict damage
Sometimes when I cast explosive getaway, I’ll choose to exile an artifact token. If the opponent sometimes decide to sacrifice the artifact token instead the damage doesn’t get assigned. Is it a bug or am I reading the card incorrectly?

This just happened again today. I targeted a gifted Treasure token I gave the opponent with the first part of the ability and then no damage was done to anything on the board.

Explosive Getaway can have a target, and if that target is not a legal target when the spell starts to resolve, none of its effects will resolve, including the damage effect.
