Lost a game because I did to much damage
I did over 800 or something damage to my opponent. The game did not end and my opponent became unkillable with over -1000 damage done to him. He then removed my massive creature and hit me for 22 damage and won even though he should be dead.

If the game continued, then there was one of many cards on the field under your opponent's control, that made it so that they could not lose that way. Pact Weapon, Platinum Angel, Cloudsteel Kirin, the use of Book of Exalted Deeds, etc., There are numerous cards like that.
