As well as the regular version, there is a rebalanced version for use in the Alchemy format.
(It's also the version used in Singleton, Pauper and Artisan.)
You can tell the rebalanced version by the Arena symbol next to the name. -

As well as preventing targeting, Protection also reduces any damage caused (by an appropriate source) to zero.
