Update: I can login and play fine when I use a VPN and connect via a server in a different country (US, Japan, Netherlands... basically anything outside of Australia), so this confirms that it's an issue on the WoTC side, and is seemingly region-specific.

This would likely get abused (for trolling, spamming, etc.) and also slow the game game down considerably (e.g. consider how long you’d have to wait for your opponent to type out messages on their phone).

Yep, interacting with this card on mobile is problematic.
On PC though, if you mouse-over the stack (specifically, the activated trigger from Meethook Massacre 2 which prompts you to lose 3 life and return your creature to the battlefield), the creature that died / triggered the ability is displayed next to the stack (so you can tell if it’s a token or non-token creature).
