It seems that it is not working for any of the "fancy" styles for the cards, including extended art and showcase versions, or the Japanese style Mystical Archive.
Which defeats the whole purpose of this feature for most of the cards.To use it for non-style printing you can click on the version without the heart icon and then select the non-style version of that printing and "apply". Then and only then you can favorite that printing.

The answer I got from support was: "The format is Standard Pauper, and Historic cards cannot be entered". At least they reimbursed me for the entry fee.
However, it was not described as such, It even mentioned that Persistent Petitioners are banned even though they are not Standard legal. (It says Format: Best-of-One Historic Pauper on the website still...)
And it seems that you can submit cards from Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate (s: HBG), which is not a standard legal set.

All cards in the sideboard are constantly marked as "new" between Bo3 games (at least in Explorer queue)
