2 More Bugs & Improving the Game
As multiple entries have covered most of the bugs, I'm not going to mention them - you know what you need to do - but there are a couple I noticed that weren't talked about too much.
One bug I want to mention is the Loot/Item Collect Bug which screwed up a great run for us. We had excellent drops and lost everything because a quest item was unable to be retrieved. This is a fix that should be PRIORITIZED. It wouldn't be as big of a deal if we could've kept everything we'd earned up until that point.
Potions are bugged in a couple ways. First, I will get the red "no more potions" background at the beginning of a dungeon or in the Cairn when the potion inventory is full. They're still usable but the pink number over the red background is horrible to try and read.
Second - please make potion inventories CONSISTENT. All my potion upgrades & feats are maxed and I have some that max at 3, some at 2, and health at 4. What the heck?? Just make it all the same OR if you want, Stamina & Health could be 4, the rest 3. The whole thing is just confusing. Also, you may want to consider a potion wheel in the future so we can use all of them on really hard difficulties. (see Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning for a great example)
The loot drop window for Rank 4, 5, & 6 difficulty is ridiculously small. We played Rank 4 more times than I can count and NEVER got a rank 5 armor piece. We played Rank 5 a few times and NEVER got a rank 5 armor piece - just 3 & 4. And we never took the Short Rest.
I have played Rank 6 at least 5 times now and no rank 6 armor has dropped even though we never use the Short Rest. At least we're getting the occasional Rank 5 pieces but loot collecting has become a stupidly boring and tedious grind.
Please adjust the drop rate otherwise your player base is going to lose interest quickly.
Starting every character over from scratch may have seemed like a great way to give the game "re-playability" but not being able to share gold & materials between my different characters and making me do the exact same grind for each one is a definite interest killer. I have no intention of running all 4 characters from scratch and will simply focus on a couple I like. Were I able to share gold and resources, it would expedite some leveling for the lower level characters.
In addition, it would be nice if all the potion leveling could carry over to the other characters, that way players would feel more comfortable starting on higher difficulties to level faster and they don't have to spend all that gold to upgrade potions again.
Your material conversion rate is terrible compared to the drop rate of materials and gold. It's SO EXPENSIVE to try and convert materials that you're forcing players to run over and over again just to make enough gold to convert a handful of epics to legendaries.
Maybe consider a blacksmith and blueprints for special armor
It would be great if I could buy stuff from the merchant, i.e. armor, materials, weapons, even skins.
Honestly, they are so disappointing, unvaried, and overall not fun which is the entire point of a skin! Please try to improve skin looks.
Potential Skin Bug? Some items won't allow me to change the skin - and it varies from item to item, sometimes it's a helm, a bow, a gauntlet... Please make it so players can change the skins on anything.
Take a page from World War Z or GoT Legends and stop requiring one of each character for every run. Who cares if 4 Drizzts end up in a dungeon?? It's messing with Public matches and meeting new players. My husband and I play as Cattie & Drizzt and every time a third player comes in they have to be a Level 1 Dwarf or Barbarian and we want to play on Rank 6 so it's frustrating.
In addition, we have NEVER been able to get 4 players in a public match. And this is a warning for you all now when you plan on releasing the Warlock/Magic character in the fall: EVERYONE WILL WANT TO PLAY AS THAT CHARACTER. How do you think matching is going go??? Plus groups of friends will all have to take turns one at a time to play as that character. Sorry but it's not a good match system.
HUNK OF CRYSTALS in DUNGEONS
There is no logic in the drops from the red dungeon crystals. 3 Common, 7 Legendary, 2 Epic?? Even after skipping the short rests commons are still dropping. And size of the red crystal chunks seems to have no baring on the drop rate? It's strange and seems like a mish mosh.
MISSION COMPLETION BONUS
It would be great to receive some type of permanent passive bonus after completing missions on all 6 difficulties, whether it's higher gold drops, better materials drops, loot rate rarity percentage increase - something to thank players for running missions on every difficulty.
FINALLY, I want to say that I really enjoy the game and am passionate about improvements and frustrations because Dark Alliance has a ton of potential. I am looking forward to the evolution of this game and what your team can do.
