    This happens to me too.
    I am on MAc OSX 10.15.5
    Mac Book Pro 2019

    I find if you 'long click' (like click, hold for 1 second then let go), it wokrs a bit more reliably.
    However you don't need to do this in any other apps.

    I have also noted this issue.
    It does not seem reliable on either the trackpad or external mouse
