I'm coming back to this waaaaaaay later after seeing this issue in another game. I believe this may be related to apps like Magnet running. Magnet is a window-snapping tool which runs in the background and snaps windows to the sides of your screen when you enter keypresses or drag a window to a side or corner. For whatever reason, Magnet seems to interfere with click actions in this game and possibly others.

Exiting Magnet seems to stop this issue from happening.

The issue here seems to be that the click is slightly delayed, which is why holding on a card for a long time works. You click, but the click doesn't actually "happen" until a fraction of a second later.

The result of this is if you're moving your mouse shortly after clicking, like when you're clicking to drag a card out, the click will actually "happen" somewhere other than the card.

This issue is easily reproducible. To do so, you can click on any card, button, or interface element and then quickly move your cursor off the thing you're clicking on. If your cursor moves off the element quickly enough you will see that the click "misses" the element, and instead falls on the element your cursor was on when the delayed click fired off.

When people are dragging cards out they are doing the click and drag motion pretty quickly, so the click doesn't register on the card and instead is registered partway through the drag motion, when the cursor has already moved off of the card.
