I used to play Arena most days, and today I opened it up again wondering why I hadn't played in so long. Once I got into a match I remembered: the game is now unplayable.
The frame rate is so low that I am often getting timed out on an action before the UI even presents me with the choice. I can't play the game in its current state, even if I'm willing to sit through this, because other times it actually does time out. Or I miss my opponent's turn completely — I'm just presented with a new board state with no idea of how it got there.
When I actually did try to exit the program, performance was so bad I couldn't. It also managed to impact my OS performance, to the point where force quitting it took a solid 5 mins of trying to line my mouse up with the OS animations experiencing similar lag to Arena. The issues all stopped the moment I successfully quit Arena.
I've worked in software development for 15 years. Signing off on something like this to ship is unprofessional. Leaving it in production for this long is shameful.
