    This just happened to me.

    I was playing the arena powered cube and cast [[Stomp]] on my opponent, to which they responded by casting [[Mystic Confluence]] selecting

    - Counter Target spell unless its controller pays 3 (targeting Stomp)

    - Counter Target spell unless its controller pays 3 (targeting Stomp)

    - Return target creature to its owners hand (targeting one of my creatures)

    I had 6 mana open so I elected to pay the 3 twice (all my lands ended up tapped + a treasure token was used) but then the Stomp spell never went through and the [[Bonecrusher Giant]] ended up in my graveyard as if the spell was countered.
