Whenever I enable the spelltable codex, spelltable runs very slowly. I often get a popup in chrome "page unresponsive".

This happens both using my HMC webcam102 webcam and One plus Nord smarthphone as input source. I'm accessing Spelltable on my chrome browser, on a Dell precision 7530 laptop.

steps:
I go to https://spelltable.wizards.com/configuration
I enable the codex
the page runs slow
I get a "page unresponsive" pop up

I try to enter a game
everything works, I can see my cards etc, the codex starts working
after a while, the page again becomes unresponsive

If I turn of the codex, every works as intended

I would like to be able to play the game, with the codex enabled.
