SOLVED thanks to Lahzael#93631 who was posting in another thread about "loading card database". Here is what worked for me:

    1. Go to Epic and uninstall the MTGA application
    2. Open Finder and go to /Users/*your username*/Library/Application Support/ and send the folder com.wizards.mtga to the trash
    3. Go to the folder /Users/Shared/Epic Games/ and send the folder MagicTheGathering to the trash
    4. Empty the trash
    5. Go back to Epic library and reinstall MTGA
    7. Launch MtG:A, which will re-download the 6.99 GB database and afterwards launch the game successfully.

So basically, the card database got corrupted or something, and it just needs re-installed. This is on MacOS Monterey, not sure where the DB is located on Windows but similar steps should work there.

Having this same problem as of the latest update today on Mac. I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling Arena, setting language to English on my computer, but no change.
