SOLVED thanks to Lahzael#93631 who was posting in another thread about "loading card database". Here is what worked for me:
1. Go to Epic and uninstall the MTGA application
2. Open Finder and go to /Users/*your username*/Library/Application Support/ and send the folder com.wizards.mtga to the trash
3. Go to the folder /Users/Shared/Epic Games/ and send the folder MagicTheGathering to the trash
4. Empty the trash
5. Go back to Epic library and reinstall MTGA
7. Launch MtG:A, which will re-download the 6.99 GB database and afterwards launch the game successfully. So basically, the card database got corrupted or something, and it just needs re-installed. This is on MacOS Monterey, not sure where the DB is located on Windows but similar steps should work there.

Having this same problem as of the latest update today on Mac. I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling Arena, setting language to English on my computer, but no change.

My mac client cannot start because of this error and changing wifi - uninstalling and reinstalling - changing install location - restarting my computer did not solve the issue

Have this problem after the latest BRO patch. Something along the lines of this happens to me every set release. I'm running in USA english and have tried the regedit solution, as well as checking my network for issues and reinstalling at least 10+ times.

Having the same issue since wednesday June 1st on Mac OSX. I am already in English language and Mac doesn't have regedit so none of the workarounds seem possible for me.

This is a bug that is preventing people from playing the game, and WOTC seems to care f*** all.

@Cerberos67 thanks for the thorough testing, changed to Nynorsk for the formatting and it works here too. Since there is no difference in the formatting between Bokmål and Nynorsk either way, this is a better workaround than running an English format.

Can confirm it has something to do with regional settings. Windows 11, error with local Norwegian regional settings. Works fine after switching to English. Same applies for Android, changed cellphone display language to English and then it worked fine.
To no avail I tried manual changes to the Norwegian regional settings like changing the decimal symbol, date and time format and more to match that of English (United States), but the error persists even if all settings are the same. Have to hard switch to English regional settings.
It may very well be because the name of the regional settings for Norway in Windows reads "Norwegian Bokmål (Norway)" which includes the special character a-ring from the Norwegian alphabet, because when applying the alternate regional settings "Norwegian Nynorsk (Norway)" there is no longer an error.
Also get the problem with locale "Norwegian Bokmål (Svalbard & Jan Mayen)", but strangely the locale "Swedish (Åland Island)" does work - maybe the content in parenthesis is not evaluated?
The few other locales with more normal special characters like ' seem to work fine.
(Note: After switching locales it is required with a full restart of the app, it is not enouch to hit OK and have MTGA restart)

I used the Regedit based solution, but had to change the value from 0 to 1. I don't know why it worked, but it did.

It's related to the regional formatting setting on your local device, not your physical location. See attached screenshot for fix on Windows. Seems any English will do. I use this one to avoid too many weird settings.

I fixed this on Android!
I had to switch my phone language to English US and now Arena works again.
Havent tried to switch it back to see if it was a temporary thing, but I hope it will get fixed in an update. -

Not working for me either and I am also playing from Norway, sendt a complaint to WOTC right now.
Tested all suggestions out there on every site I can find about the issue, nothing works.
Spent hours on hours. Tested several divices. Tried to change language, fix in regedit assetvalue 0, reinstall, and so on.
To bad, seems my arena life is over after years of enjoying the game, all because of an update demanded by WOTCarena themselfes. -

Still not able to play MTGA on either my pc or my android mobile. Same Error asset message.
Is this only for Norway or other countries as well?
When i go to check status it says: Operational.
This status is wrong.

I have this same issue on Android, so I can't use the fixes proposed here. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem with the mac version and I'm in great trouble.
Changing the region and language to English (UK) does not stop the asset error loop.
Is it a Windows-only solution? -

Wow, I thought I will be one of those that says that they can't have their MTGA work for month or years...
Nothing seemed to work, until I found this Regional fix here.
I can't believe it worked.
Thanks a bunch!!! -

Changing the regional Settings did not solve the issue for me.
Are there any other workarounds for this?Found the Solution for my Problem
Make sure the MTGA client is shut down
Open the Registry Editor in windows.
In the left panel, click through the directory path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Wizards Of The Coast -> MTGA.
Double-click on HashFilesOnStartup_h572346022 (in the right panel).
Change the number below “Value Data” to 1 (0 is asset check off, 1 is on). Click okay.
Launch MTGA.
Apparently the Asset Validation was set off after the update.
