Having played MTG for about 28 years. I clearly love it, both physical and the various MTG PC games created throughout the years.
But what I am very annoyed at WoTC having done though, is gamifying MTG Arena. What does that mean? Means they monetised the product by utilising algorithms over the randomising of cards drawn.
So now when you play MTG Arena, the chances of a normal game are about 1 in 8. The rest of the time either you will be land screwed (no land or just constantly draw land) or you can tell that your opponent has been.
It's actually quite appalling conduct to treat your loyal customers of the product in such a way.
Living in a country where Pokies are the highest per capita in the world it is easy to see the tactics used by Wizards of the Coast in MTG Arena. There are tricks, play for a bit and when you can see yourself being screwed (takes about 5 games in a row of no or all land), stop playing for a while ( a few days or week maybe). Then the algorithm kicks in next time you play, and others will then be land screwed and you'll win 5 in a row (and see them flounder with no land or probably a handful of land).
The only other way I can think of is to try to build/play decks designed to make being land screwed by the algorithm hard. But that's very difficult.
SO WoTC, turn it off or turn it down, it is way too high at the moment. And makes playing MTG Arena VERY frustrating.
