I noticed this a few months ago. That extremely low probability draws sequence occur far too frequently to be organic.
What I just realized now is that it is, must be, profit related. That's WoTC only motivation here.
I'm close to the gems required to get mastery without paying a cent. So I build up coin slowly to enter the premier 10,000 coin draft. Win the first game easily, next three in a row I get absolutely absurd land draw rates. at or on pace for 11 then 12 then 12 lands of 16 after drawing only 20/40 cards.
Best guess is they dial up the bad draw when leaving it to chance could jeopardize profit according to their algorithms. And/or do it according to your play patterns to try to get you to keep playing.
