Feature Request: Direct Event Pre-Registration & Customizable Store Contact Channels in Magic Companion
Dear Wizards of the Coast Companion Development Team,
I am writing to share feedback and request two quality-of-life features that would significantly improve the Magic Companion app for international players and local game stores alike.
The Problem
As someone who travels internationally, finding and playing Magic in local game stores often turns into an exercise in frustration. Currently, the Event Locator lists events, but there is no reliable way to confirm whether an event is actually firing or at capacity without visiting the physical store. This year alone, across three continents, I frequently traveled 30 to 60 minutes each way to a listed store only to find the event was canceled, rescheduled, or pre-registered entirely via local messaging channels.
Depending on the country or region, local communities organize almost entirely off standard websites—using platforms like WhatsApp, LINE, Discord, Telegram, or Facebook Groups. Unless an organizer's exact community link is listed, traveling players have no way to reach them beforehand.
Proposed Feature Requests
Direct In-App Event Pre-Registration:
Allow players to pre-register or RSVP for an event directly within Companion rather than requiring an in-person Event Code entry upon physical arrival.
Provide a real-time player count so travelers and locals can confirm attendance levels before making the commute.
Customizable Store Communication / Notes Section:
Allow WPN retailers to add a dedicated, customizable note or primary contact channel directly on their store profile and event pages.
Enable stores to display their preferred regional community link (e.g., Discord server, LINE group, WhatsApp community, Telegram) so players know exactly where the local scene coordinates.
Adding these features would bridge the communication gap between local stores and visiting players, prevent wasted commutes, and make Magic far more accessible worldwide.
Thank you for your consideration and ongoing work on the app.
Best regards,
Kevin Dray
