    I am having the same issue. I mainly play one friend who is across town. We will be able to play the first 6 - 7 games with no issues and then the “network error - unable to submit deck. Try again later.” message appears and the fun is over. We have not found a work around. After I get this message I am disconnected from the servers and have to reconnect. I am still able to play all other modes of the game, just not direct challenges with him.
    I, too, have spent a good bit of money recently on this game, choosing it over physical cards because of the convenience. I would really like to make good use of my money spent.
