This structural imbalance isn't a new development; it has been a suffocating issue in Standard for several design cycles now. Ever since toxic shortcuts were reintroduced, they have consistently detracted from the organic growth and enjoyment of the game.Magic is at its absolute best when it allows for expressive, creative deckbuilding and deep tactical interactions over a shared 20-life standard. Poison completely shatters that baseline. It turns what should be an engaging game of chess into a miserable, un-interactive race against a 50% discount clock. When fair, interactive rogue strategies are systematically forced out of the competitive ladder simply because they cannot survive unfair targeting traps or cheap ward costs, the format loses its soul. The player base shouldn't have to wait years for local formats to rotate just to play traditional Magic again. We need an immediate, standard-legal safety valve to keep these counter shortcuts honest and restore actual competitive integrity to the arena.
