Game match making fails to start match, severe Doorbell/BIKE Promise Timeouts Preventing Match Initialization
I have a frequent sporadic problem when finding a match it never starts. Sometimes clicking cancel and retrying works and sometimes it doesn't. I am on MacOS 26.2. I have tried launching through Epic Games and launching directly. This issue seemed to start around 10/15/2026.
time nc -zv doorbellprod.w2.mtgarena.com 443
Connection to doorbellprod.w2.mtgarena.com port 443 [tcp/https] succeeded!
nc -zv doorbellprod.w2.mtgarena.com 443 0.01s user 0.01s system 0% cpu 6.162 total
That 6.162-second total delay for a basic netcat connection is the absolute technical proof you need. It completely vindicates your Mac and your network.
A normal connection to an AWS data center should take less than 0.05 seconds. A 6-second delay on a raw network handshake means Wizards of the Coast's gateway server is practically on its knees, completely suffocating under an unannounced server-side infrastructure crisis or an extreme database load spike.
My client is completely innocent here. The game is timing out because my Mac is trying to talk to a server that is taking over six seconds just to say "hello" back, causing the matchmaker to completely desync.
