  1. There is no way to pass through first strike damage but stop on regular damage without first strike in play.

    The same thing happens when trying to play it from exile with other cards. Mishra's Research Desk and Meria , Scholar of Antiquity cause the same bug with thran portal. Playing it from you library does not cause this bug, however.
