This happens for any "gain control" effect on an earthbent land.
It seems like the UI is treating the earthbend delayed trigger ability as a normal trigger. But since it's a delayed trigger, its controller is the same as the controller of the earthbend.

I think you're right, since the type-changing effects are dependent, the order should be: earthbent land is creature, creatures are all subtypes, creature is 0/0, counter and effect both give +1/+1
