1) Did you try putting a stop on your upkeep before your turn?
2) YOU WOULD HAVE LOST ANYWAY. If you turned Jace face-up he would have been a planeswalker with no loyalty counters on him and immediately gone to the graveyard.

There are several cards your opponents could have that make it so you can't cast spells on their turn or can only cast spells when you could cast a sorcery spell.

NO BUG!
Marked damage doesn't cause a creature to lose toughness. To kill a creature with indestructible you need to use spells/abilities that ACTUALLY lower toughness to reduce the toughness to 0 or less.

If a creature gets exiled when it dies, then any on-death abilities it has won't trigger.
